Sunstainable install commercial solar systems Melbourne-wide, which means we know first-hand that small businesses have a lot to gain from the Victorian government Solar for Business program.
To date, there are 2,258 solar for small business rebates remaining but, given the popularity of government rebate programs in the past, it pays to be quick.
In our experience, solar systems can help pave the path to recovery for small businesses under stress. If your business has been adversely affected by electricity bill increases, power-outs, or simply suffers from an over-reliance on the grid, then a solar panel system may be the right solution for your business to gain back independence and cheaper energy.
Solar panel systems can also help pave the way to carbon neutral status and greater sustainability – two things that are becoming increasingly important to consumers that can help set your business apart.
So, what do you need to know about the current Solar for Business rebate? Let’s take a look.
About Victoria’s Solar for Business Rebates
The Solar for Business program is designed to help small businesses offset their energy costs through the power of solar renewable energy.
Instead of pulling expensive fossil-fuel energy from the grid, a solar system feeds zero-cost solar energy into your business during daylight hours, which happily coincides with most businesses’ operating times.
This means that your business draws less energy from the grid overall for its power needs, which dramatically brings down your utilities bills.
Of course, there are some upfront costs to installing a solar system, which is what the Solar for Business rebate is all about.
This initiative will reduce the upfront cost of the installation of an approved small-scale solar PV system up to 30kW.
The rebate will cover up to 50 per cent of the cost of a rooftop solar system with a maximum rebate of $3,500. This means the total rebate amount will be capped at 50% or $3,500 of the cost on an approved system.
This is obviously a huge price reduction that will help your business produce not just cheap but free solar energy as quickly as possible.
In most cases, a solar panel system will pay for itself within 5 to 10 years of installation, however, with the Solar for Business rebate, your commercial solar panels will pay for themselves much sooner. They will then go on to give you 25 years + of renewable solar energy at no expense.
